The German Ministry of Finance Dec. 27 announced various tax changes, effective Jan. 1, 2025. The announcement includes measures to: 1) increase the basic tax allowance to 12,096 euros (US$12,557) from 11,784 euros (US$12,234) and the child tax allowance to 3,336 euros (US$3,463) from 3,306 euros (US$3,432) per parent; 2) increase the exemption limit for the solidarity surcharge to 39,900 euros (US$41,439) from 36,260 euros (US$37,665); 3) standardize the tax exemption for photovoltaic systems to 30 kilowatts per residential or commercial unit for all types of buildings; 4) harmonize provisions on VAT exemptions for educational services with EU legal requirements; ...
