Germany Tax Agency Updates Guidance on FATCA Reporting Requirements

The German Federal Central Tax Office May 14 updated guidance on reporting requirements for financial institutions under the U.S. Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA). The update includes: 1) an automatic deadline extension to July 1 for submitting FATCA certifications, due to the coronavirus pandemic; 2) an updated list of documents required for FATCA reporting through XML schema (version 2.0); 3) instructions to facilitate registration and operations on the online portal to submit information; and 4) FAQs on FATCA certifications.
