The Ministry of Finance has noted the concerns of organized labor on the implementation of value-added tax on electricity consumption by residential customers, it says in a statement on its website.
- The ministry asks energy-distribution companies to put the implementation of the tax on hold, until talks are over
- NOTE: The finance ministry ordered power-distribution companies to charge 15% VAT on residential consumers above the lifeline unit of 30 kilowatt-hours from Jan. 1
- NOTE: Organized labor threatened strike if the tax was not withdrawn
