Glencore Staves Off Value-Added Tax Fraud Case

Glencore’s Hungarian subsidiary must be able to see the evidence being used against it in a dispute with the country’s tax office, the EU’s top court ruled Oct. 16.

But this doesn’t guarantee them a win in an upcoming case before the Budapest Administrative and Labor Court over fraudulent transactions made by some of Glencore’s suppliers.

The EU court issued its ruling after the matter was referred to it by the Budapest court, which wanted assistance on how to apply EU law in the dispute.
