Greece Gazettes Decision Amending Regulation on Free Cirulation of VAT-Exempt Goods for EU Intra-Community Trade

The Greek Official Gazette Aug. 19 published Decision No. A.1178/2020, amending the regulation on the free circulation of VAT-exempt goods into the EU intra-community supply regime. The decision includes measures: 1) incorporating importers established outside the EU into the free circulation regime; 2) requiring nonresident importers to register into the VAT information exchange system (VIES) in Greece; 3) explaining compliance requirements and registration procedures; and 4) providing penalty provisions to prevent and combat VAT evasion.
