The Greek Independent Authority for Public Revenue Dec. 5 issued a circular explaining the taxation of dividend and interest payments to Swiss companies. The circular clarifies that when a resident taxpayer makes dividend or interest payments to a Swiss entity without issuing a guarantee letter, the entity is still exempt from paying withholding taxes if it: 1) has held the interest for at least 24 months at the time of payment; 2) meets the 25 percent minimum ownership requirement; and 3) meets EU tax residency requirements.
