Guyana Tax Agency Announces Amendment on Zero VAT Rate for Specified Goods

The Guyanese Revenue Authority Feb. 21 announced an amendment on the zero VAT rate for specified goods to lower business operational costs. The amendment includes: 1) the VAT exemption on the export of certain goods and services; and 2) the zero-rated VAT for specified raw materials, packaging materials, medical supplies, utilities and construction supplies, agriculture and food items, household necessities, and educational materials. The announcement also provides a revised list of exempt supplies as contained in Schedule II of the Value–Added Tax Act. [Guyana, Guyana Revenue Authority, 02/21/25]
