HMRC Sending Reminders to Taxpayers on Digital Filing Mandate

The UK tax authority has begun sending its latest tranche of letters to taxpayers who will be covered under the new digital tax filing regime from next year.

His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs plans to reach out to a quarter of individuals who will be mandated to submit quarterly updates and tax returns digitally as part of the Making Tax Digital regime, an HMRC spokesperson said Nov. 4. Based on the 2023-24 tax year there are 864,000 total individuals who will be impacted by the regime, the spokesperson said.
