Hungary Parliament Considers Amendments Reducing VAT Rate on Certain Basic Foodstuffs

The Hungarian Parliament March 3 accepted for consideration Bill No. T/11064, to amend the VAT Act. The bill includes a measure to reduce the VAT rate to 5 percent on certain basic foodstuffs including cereal grains and expanded cereals, milk and dairy products, bread, natural honey, fresh vegetables, dried legumes, fresh fruits, dried fruits, and basic spices.
