Feb. 25, 2023, 1:22 PM UTC

Hungary will maintain windfall taxes in 2023 for the banking, energy and pharmaceutical sectors, Cabinet Minister Gergely Gulyas said at a press conference Saturday.

The cabinet will hold talks with affected companies, Gulyas said. Hungary introduced windfall taxes for banks and raised tax for energy companies, mainly refiner Mol Nyrt, last May and brought in a new levy on pharmaceuticals in December to shore up its budget.
