India’s Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a petition by the tax department against telecom operator Vodafone Idea Ltd. that sought to reverse a tax refund of around 16.5 billion rupees ($190 million).
Vodafone had already received this refund, including interest in December, after winning a case filed in the Bombay High Court, according to a statement filed by the company on Indian stock exchanges on Tuesday.
However, the tax department filed a special leave petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court earlier in January against the Bombay High Court, the company said.
