India to Provide Clarity on Data Center Tax Holiday Eligibility

A senior official said Saturday he expects clarification on issues related to India’s recently announced tax holiday for foreign users of Indian data centers.

We will “try to provide as much certainty as we can,” said Balasubramanian Krishnamurthy, joint secretary in the revenue department of India’s Ministry of Finance.
He was speaking at a panel discussion at the conference of the International Fiscal Association in New Delhi.

Earlier this year, India proposed a tax holiday until 2047 to foreign companies providing cloud services to global customers through data centers owned and operated by Indian companies.
