Indian GST Evasion Hits $1.8 Billion During Eight-Week Window

Indian tax authorities found 150 billion rupees ($1.8 billion) worth of goods and services tax evasion in an eight week period, according to a senior tax official Wednesday.

The special drive against fake GST registrations began May 6 and will last until July 15, with the most recent figures recorded until July 4, Shashank Priya, a member of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, told an event organized by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India.
