Indiana DOR Suspends Gasoline Use Tax Under Energy Emergency Order

The Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR) announced the temporary suspension of the gasoline use tax effective April 8 through May 8, 2026, pursuant to Executive Order 26-09 issued by Governor Mike Braun. The suspension was authorized under IC 10-14-3-13 following the declaration of an energy emergency due to rising gasoline prices. The gasoline use tax, imposed at the distributor level under IC 6-2.5-3.5, will not apply during the suspension period, and temporary filing and reporting instructions have been provided to licensed distributors through INTIME.
