The Irish government on Thursday doubled down on its position that Apple Inc. paid the correct amount of tax to the country following an opinion handed down by a top adviser to the highest court in the EU.
“It has always been, and remains, Ireland’s position that the correct amount of Irish tax was paid and that Ireland provided no State aid to Apple,” Irish Finance Minister Michael McGrath said in a statement. “We now await the judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union on this matter.”
