The Irish Revenue Commissioners Dec. 5 issued Revenue eBrief No. 299/24, on the updated VAT guidance for stock exchange fees, debt factoring and invoice discounting, and solicitor services. Topics covered include: 1) exemptions for trading and regulation fees applicable to colocation services, primary dealers in Irish government bonds, and firms trading securities on Optiq; 2) what constitutes debt factoring and invoice discounting, the application of VAT to these transactions, and the deductibility of input VAT; and 3) VAT rates and registration requirements for solicitors, and the VAT treatment of legal fees related to lenders.
