Ireland’s tax authority is leveraging AI in its operations but doesn’t let the technology make tax-related decisions, a commissioner for the body said.
Revenue commissioner Ruth Kennedy said in a statement Tuesday to the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Artificial Intelligence that the authority’s use of AI was focused on supporting human decision-making.
“While Revenue does not use AI to make tax-related decisions or carry out its statutory functions, its use is very much part of what Revenue does and how it operates,” said Kennedy.
