Irish Finance Minister Reassures Watchdog of Corporate Tax Plan

The Irish government’s plan to reduce its reliance on corporation tax is sound, Ireland’s finance minister reassured the country’s fiscal watchdog after the body criticized the share of receipts going toward public spending.

Simon Harris, tanaiste and minister for finance for Ireland, told the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council in a letter published Monday the large 2026 budget package was “necessary to transition away from temporary measures” and help fund critical infrastructure needs.
