Israel Parliament Considers Bill to Amend Income Tax Ordinance

The Israeli Parliament (Knesset) June 27 accepted for consideration a bill to amend the income tax ordinance. The bill includes measures to: 1) repeal a provision allowing the Minister of Finance to extend the exemption period for first-time Israeli residents or residents returning from abroad; 2) establish the time period and requirements for a person who withholds tax from a foreign resident to report to the tax authority; and 3) amend the date for calculating interest on late tax payments.
