The Italian Revenue Agency Oct. 6 issued a guide on tax deductions for healthcare expenses. Topics covered include: 1) the 19 percent individual income tax (IRPEF) deduction on amounts exceeding 129.11 euros (US$136) paid for healthcare expenses; 2) the rules for taking advantage of the deductions incurred in Italy and abroad; 3) the deduction of the 2 euro (US$2.12) stamp duty applied to VAT-exempt invoices exceeding 77.47 euros (US$82), if separately stated on the invoice; 4) the possibility to spread the deduction over four equal and consecutive annual installments, subject to exceptions; and 5) lists of deductible healthcare expenses.
