Japan Tax Agency Announces Revised Monthly Tax-Exempt Limits for Commuting Allowances

The Japanese National Tax Agency Nov. 19 announced the same date promulgation of a Cabinet Order amending the Income Tax Act Enforcement Order, revising monthly tax-exempt limits for commuting allowances. The amendment includes measures: 1) maintaining the 150,000 Japanese yen (US$951) monthly maximum limit for commuting allowances paid to individuals using public transportation or toll roads, commuter passes provided to individuals using public transportation, as well as commuter allowances and commuter passes provided to individuals using public transportation or toll roads and transportation equipment; and 2) revising monthly tax-exempt limits for commuting allowances paid to individuals using transportation such as ...
