Japanese tax officials are planning to ramp up tax investigations next month after the chaos of the Covid pandemic led to a sharp decline in official scrutiny, officials with the National Tax Agency said.
NTA will redouble its tax investigation efforts in the coming months, if the country is able to control the spread of Covid-19, said Katsumi Kobayashi, planning officer of the individual tax division in the NTA. The agency is timing the effort to the July start of the Japanese tax accounting year, he said.
