Kazakhstan Gazettes Resolution Establishing Special Economic Zone in Atyrau

The Kazakhstani Official Gazette Dec. 1 published Resolution No. 1028, establishing a special economic zone (SEZ) in Atyrau. The resolution includes measures: 1) establishing the SEZ until Dec. 31, 2036; 2) listing the SEZ industries covered, including services, new technologies, and manufacturing; 3) specifying that if an international treaty that Kazakhstan ratifies establishes rules other than those in the SEZ legislation, the treaty’s rules apply; and 4) specifying that taxation in the SEZ’s territory is regulated by the country’s tax legislation.
