Kazakhstan President Calls For Tax Hike on Crypto Mining: IFX

Current tax rate of 1 tenge ($0.002) per kilowatt for mining cryptocurrencies is too small and should be increased several-fold, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev tells government meeting, according to Interfax.

  • Government should develop full package of measures to regulate and develop digital mining by April 1
  • Miners should be licensed, pay reasonable electricity tariffs, pay taxes and support green energy projects
  • NOTE: Kazakhstan Blames Short Circuit Not Bitcoin for Massive Blackout
