The Kentucky Governor extended his executive order reducing the state motor fuel tax by 10 cents per gallon for 33 cities and counties that formally requested continuation of the relief. The extension remains in effect through June 30, 2026. Communities that did not request an extension will see the 10-cent-per-gallon reduction expire beginning June 11, 2026. The executive action follows earlier measures taken in May 2026, including freezing the statutory gas tax rate at 26.4 cents per gallon (preventing a scheduled July 1 increase to 27 cents) and activating Kentucky’s price-gouging statute to enforce pass-through of the tax savings.
