The Kenyan lower house of Parliament (National Assembly) March 20 accepted for consideration Bill No. 11, to clarify the effective date of the VAT exemption for supplies of manufacturing capital goods granted before Jan. 1, 2024, for investments of at least 2 billion Kenyan shillings (US$15.4 million). The bill includes a measure to clarify that the effective date of the First Schedule of the VAT Act is 12 months from the commencement of the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act.
