Kuwait-Switzerland Second Protocol to 1999 DTA Enters Into Force

The Swiss State Secretariat for International Finance Oct. 29 announced that the second protocol to the 1999 DTA with Kuwait, signed Nov. 6, 2019, entered into force Oct. 14, 2024, and applies from Jan. 1, 2025, with some exceptions. The protocol contains new rules for the taxation of dividends, interest, and capital gains and incorporates the standards of the OECD base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) project, including provisions on anti-abuse, arbitration, and the exchange of tax information.
