The Latvian Official Gazette Dec. 19 published a law amending the VAT Law. The law includes a measure repealing the sunset date of Dec. 31, for a reduced 12 percent VAT rate on fresh fruits, berries, and vegetables, which includes washed, peeled, shelled, cut, and packaged, but excludes frozen, salted, or dried. The information accompanying the draft law specified that the Ministry of Agriculture must submit a report on the impact of the reduced VAT rate on the prices of fresh fruits, berries, and vegetables for end consumers, including regional price comparisons, by June 1, 2028.
