Latvia Gazettes Law Amending VAT Law

The Latvian Official Gazette Dec. 18 published a law amending the VAT Law. The law includes measures setting reduced VAT rates of: 1) 5 percent for specified supplies of printed or online books, including educational literature, brochures, and maps; 2) 5 percent for subscription fees related to specified printed or electronic press and other media, including newspapers, periodicals, and website publications; 3) 12 percent for fresh fruit, berries, and vegetables, subject to conditions; and 4) 12 percent for various food items, such as bread, milk, poultry, meat, and eggs, from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027.
