Liechtenstein, Montenegro Sign DTA

The Liechtenstein Government Sept. 26 announced the Sept. 25 signing of a DTA with Montenegro. The DTA includes measures to: 1) regulate the elimination of double taxation on cross-border transactions in accordance with the OECD international standard and the requirements under the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) project; 2) regulate double taxation avoidance on income and wealth taxes; 3) reduce withholding taxes on dividends, interest, and royalties; 4) abolish the withholding tax on qualified group dividends if Montenegro joins the EU; 5) clarify the treatment of asset structures, investment funds, and pension funds under the DTA; and 6) provide ...
