The Lithuanian Parliament (Seimas) April 16 accepted for consideration Bill No. 25-6750, to amend the VAT Law. The bill includes a measure to increase the preferential VAT rate to 12 percent from 9 percent and apply it to: 1) specified accommodation services; 2) passenger transport services with regular routes and passenger luggage transport services; and 3) visits to all art and cultural institutions and events, subject to conditions. The bill also includes a measure to specify that the 5 percent reduced VAT rate applies to printed and electronic books and electronic non-periodical information publications, with exceptions.
