Lithuania Parliament Considers Bill to Amend VAT Registration Requirements for Related Persons

The Lithuanian Parliament (Seimas) Aug. 12 accepted for consideration Bill No. XIVP-1915, to amend anti-avoidance provisions concerning the computation of the VAT registration threshold for related persons. The bill contains measures to exempt related persons from registering as VAT payers if they can prove that: 1) none of their management bodies and/or individual members of management bodies are the same person; and 2) they engage in unrelated economic activities, in that their actual economic activities aren’t of the same nature, and they don’t act for each other’s benefit or interests.
