Lithuania Parliament Considers Bill to Renew Application of Reduced VAT Rate for Catering Services

The Lithuanian Parliament (Seimas) April 19 accepted for consideration Bill No. XIVP-3658, to amend the VAT Law to renew the reduced VAT rate application for catering services and takeaway food services. The bill includes measures to: 1) renew the application of the 9 percent reduced VAT rate for catering services and takeaway food supplied by restaurants, cafes, and similar catering establishments, except for alcoholic beverages and services or parts of services related to alcoholic beverages; and 2) set the application period for the 9 percent preferential VAT rate from July 1, 2024, to Dec. 31, 2027.
