Lithuania Parliament Considers Bills to Establish Preferential VAT Rate for Specific Food Products

The Lithuanian Parliament (Seimas) March 24 accepted for consideration Bill Nos. XVP-250 and XVP-252, to amend the VAT Law for the purposes of establishing a 5 percent preferential VAT rate for: 1) fresh fruits, vegetables, and berries sold in Lithuania; and 2) organic products used for food production in pre-schools, general education and vocational training schools, higher education institutions, health care institutions, institutions of the national defense system, and statutory institutions of the internal service system in Lithuania.
