Malaysia Customs Agency Explains Tax Exemption Regime for Exports

The Malaysian Customs Department Jan. 16 explained the major export regime, which provides sales tax exemptions for exporters. The explanation includes: 1) the procedure to apply for the sales tax exemption; 2) the requirement to provide specified documentation; 3) the deadline of the end of the month, following the end of each quarter, to submit reports; 4) that specified registered individuals are eligible for the exemption, effective Jan. 1, 2019; and 5) the procedure to apply for a tax deduction, effective Jan. 1, 2019.
