Malaysia Gazettes Order on Income Tax Exemption for Profits From Disposal of Specific Shares

The Malaysian Official Gazette Dec. 29, 2023, published Order No. P.U. (A) 410/2023, exempting companies, limited liability partnerships, trust bodies, and co-operative societies from the payment of income tax on gains or profits received from the disposal of shares of a Malaysian company not listed on the stock exchange, applicable for disposals made from Jan. 1, 2024, to Feb. 29, 2024. The order also states that the exemption doesn’t apply to share disposals taxable as business income under the Income Tax Act. [Malaysia, Official Gazette, 12/29/23]
