Malaysia is open to studying tax measures that could boost revenue without causing “far-reaching impacts”, said Second Finance Minister Amir Hamzah Azizan on Tuesday.

  • The government has no plans yet to re-introduce the goods and services tax, Amir Hamzah said in parliament in response to questions from lawmakers
  • The government will prioritize improving the existing tax system and introducing taxes that won’t affect the vulnerable, before considering reintroducing consumption taxes
