Malta Eyes Tougher Steps as Corporate Tax Compliance Stays Low

Corporate tax compliance in Malta is still low despite ongoing efforts by the government to overhaul its tax function and crack down on tax avoiders, the Malta Tax & Customs Administration annual report said.

Just 52% of corporate income tax declarations were filed on time last year, with 4% filed late and 43% left unfiled altogether, the MTCA report said.

That wasn’t much of an improvement, the report said, highlighting the agency’s ongoing struggles.
