Malta Gazettes Legal Notice on Reduced VAT Rate for Specific Services

The Maltese Official Gazette Oct. 6 published Legal Notice No. 231, on an amended regulation introducing a 12 percent reduced VAT rate for specific services, effective Jan. 1, 2024. The amended regulation includes the reduced 12 percent rate for: 1) custody and management of securities; 2) management of credit and credit guarantees by a person or body other than that which granted the credit; 3) short-term hiring of a pleasure vessel for a cumulative period not exceeding five weeks over a running 12-month period; and 4) specified health care profession services, excluding exempt supplies.
