Mexico MOF Issues Draft Decree on 2026 Economic Package

The Mexican Ministry of Finance and Public Credit Sept. 8 issued a draft decree on the 2026 economic package. The draft decree includes measures to: 1) introduce a special tax on video games with violent content; 2) prohibit deduction of 75 percent of contributions a commercial bank makes to the Banking Fund for Savings Protection (FOBAPROA); 3) eliminate the special regime for bad debt deductions by credit institutions; 4) set a maximum 2.5 percent withholding rate for individuals under the Simplified Trust Regime (RESICO) for income from digital platforms for the intermediation of goods, increased to 4 percent for legal ...
