The Michigan Department of Treasury has announced that individuals and businesses in 33 counties affected by severe weather, including flooding, straight-line winds, rising water levels, and tornadoes, are eligible for state tax extension relief. Eligible taxpayers must request relief by contacting Treasury online, by mail, or by phone. Qualifying taxpayers will receive additional time to file state tax returns and pay state tax liabilities, with penalties and interest waived. [Mich. Dep’t of Treasury, Press Release, 04/16/26]
