Argentine President Javier Milei no longer intends to send a tax reform to Congress in the coming months as governors are pushing back against his legislation, La Nacion newspaper reported Monday.

  • Milei will still go forward with his labor reform, according to La Nacion
    • NOTE: Congress to begin debate on labor reform in February
  • Governors already pushed back on parts of the labor reform that would cut income taxes that feed into a key source of provincial revenues
  • Tax reform would have further lowered taxes that compose provincial revenues
  • Milei’s administration now aims to make staggered tax adjustments
