Moldova MOF Seeks Comments on Bill on Consumption Tax Exemptions for Individuals Moving to Country

The Moldovan Ministry of Finance May 13 opened a consultation on a bill to transpose Directive (EU) 2009/55/EC, on the consumption tax exemptions for personal property imported by individuals transferring domicile from another EU country. The bill includes measures to: 1) clarify that the exemptions apply to specified consumption taxes on noncommercial goods previously used for personal or household purposes for the minimum specified period, purchased under another country’s general tax regime and not subject to exemptions, and imported within 12 months after transferring domicile; 2) specify that the exemptions don’t cover customs duties, VAT, or excise taxes; and 3) ...
