Multinationals Face Surge in Tax Data Demands, Executives Say

Multinational companies are getting more complicated data requests from tax authorities, executives said Wednesday.

Tax audits are becoming more intense and challenging as authorities demand far more detailed historical data, Sebastiaan de Buck, global head of tax at Unilever, told an International Tax Law and Policy Research Network event at King’s College London.

Data requests have gone up, not necessarily for tax inquiries, but for operational purposes such as exhaustive invoice checking, Vineet Rachh, vice president of Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa tax at Procter & Gamble Co., said.
