Nations Resist Swapping Data on Rich Taxpayers at UN Talks

A group of nations opposed draft language for a United Nations tax treaty over concerns the wording would force countries to share information on high net-worth individuals.

Sweden, Austria, Switzerland and Ireland said the proposed text too specifically prescribes how countries should fight wealthy people avoiding and evading their taxes. The text was presented Tuesday at a committee meeting of delegates negotiating the treaty in Nairobi.
