Nepal MOF Posts 2026-2027 Budget Speech, Draft Bill

The Nepalese Ministry of Finance May 29 posted online the 2026-2027 budget speech and draft budget bill. The speech includes measures to: 1) double, to 1 million Nepalese rupees (US$6,582) from 500,000 rupees (US$3,291), the individual income tax exemption threshold, and reduce the highest individual income tax rate by 10 percent; 2) integrate taxes such as development tax, road toll, and building duty, into the green tax; 3) treat capital gains tax on transactions involving securities of listed companies as a final tax and provide targeted tax incentives and concessions for specified industries; 4) provide a VAT incentive equal to ...
