The Dutch Government April 17 announced that the upper house of Parliament (Eerste Kamer) voted against a draft emergency law for an additional 1.2 percent increase on July 1 in the statutory hourly minimum wage. The announcement also includes that: 1) the gross hourly minimum wage will therefore increase on July 1 by 3.09 percent to 13.68 euros (US$14.59), based on the regular indexation of the minimum wage or growth of collective labor agreements; and 2) the increase impacts benefits like social assistance, the state pension (AOW), and unemployment benefits (UWV).
