The Dutch Official Gazette July 7 published a law reducing the VAT rate on energy, and the excise tax rate on fuel products. The law includes measures: 1) reducing the VAT rate on energy to 9 percent from 21 percent, effective July 1; 2) reducing the excise tax by 21 percent on petrol, diesel, and LPG, effective April 1; 3) clarifying calculation criteria for turnover taxes; and 4) elaborating the measures to reduce the effect of the rising energy prices for the Caribbean part of the Netherlands.
