New York Tax Department Announces 2025 Income Tax Filing Season

The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance announced that the 2025 income tax filing season will begin on Monday, Jan. 26, when the Tax Department and IRS will start accepting and processing income tax returns. The department encourages eligible New Yorkers to take advantage of Free File on the Tax Department website, which allows taxpayers to file federal and state returns at no cost, with a filing deadline of midnight on April 15.
