New Jersey business groups are ratcheting up the pressure on lawmakers to reject a proposed tax hike on large corporations to fund public transportation, setting up a showdown ahead of the state’s June 30 budget deadline.
The 2.5% surcharge would push businesses out of state and hurt New Jersey’s regional competitiveness, Michele Siekerka, president and CEO of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association, said at a press conference Tuesday.
